What Should You Expect on Your First Visit with Us?
At Leverenz Family Chiropractic our examinations procedures are geared toward detection and correction of the Vertebral Subluxation. The procedures we use are therefore specifically selected for your spine and nervous system health. There are a couple of things that you should expect when you have a first visit at our clinic.
While every individual is unique, each patient's first appointment will typically involve several common evaluation steps: consultation, examination, and x-rays (except for children and pregnant women). This is followed by a detailed discussion of all test results, health objectives, and care plan options. The initial visit usually lasts around an hour.
Consultation
Your consultation, health history, and concerns will receive the attention they deserve. We offer a thorough consultation that considers all aspects of bodily functions, viewing your body as a dynamic and holistic system rather than merely a collection of parts. Our focus goes beyond just the diagnosis; we prioritize you and your overall health.
Examination
Our examination involves a comprehensive assessment of your spinal and nervous systems, which includes a technique called "Palpation." Essentially, palpation means the doctor will manually check your spine. This process allows the doctor to identify areas of your spine that may be linked to subluxation issues. Additionally, we will assess spinal alignment, curvature, and muscle tone in relation to potential subluxations.
Your examination will also involve measuring spinal heat variations from one level of the spine to another, as well as comparing one side of the spine to the other. We utilize a device known as the nervoscope for this purpose. Since heat is a byproduct of circulation regulated by the autonomic nervous system, this analysis helps us understand how subluxation may be impacting your nervous system's functions.
X-Ray
Spinal X-rays may be taken depending on your age, and situation. There are many reasons why we would not take x-rays on certain patients including pregnancy, most children, recent usable spinal x-rays and some other various situations. Aside from these situations, x-rays are a common part of the examination process when looking for vertebral subluxations. X-rays give us important information including the position of the spinal bones, and the quality of the spine and safety of adjusting it. X-rays also tell us the relative length of time subluxations may have been involved in your spine. With this important information we can make a more accurate determination of the type of adjustments your spine needs as well as the initial frequency of your care.
To see is to know, not to see is to guess and we don’t guess about our patient’s health!
Adjustment
Depending on your health history and examination findings, we will conclude your first appointment with your initial chiropractic adjustment.
